ITANAGAR, Apr 25: The District Hospital Tawang has bagged the top prize of Rs 50 lakh along with a citation followed by commendation award to District Hospital Yingkiong with a cash incentive of Rs 3 lakh in the District Hospital category for their efforts in promoting hygiene and health facilities under the state 'Kayakalp' programme.

Moreover under the Community Health Centres (CHC) category, Ruksin CHC received the best CHC award with a cash incentive of Rs 15 lakh only and a citation followed by commendation award to CHC Jang with a cash incentive of Rs.1 lakh.

The awards was given today in  the State level Kayakalp Award ceremony held at the official chamber of Minister Health & Family Welfare, Jomde Kena at  secretariat office, Itanagar.

Congratulating the MO in-charges and hospital staff, Kena emphasised that the quality of hospital should be maintained and they should strive to improve every year.

Other healthcare centres should also follow the footsteps of the award winning facilities to improve their hospitals, stated Kena mentioning about state government’s intention to organise a similar plan to encourage further strengthening of the healthcare delivery system in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Mission Director, National Health Mission, PN Thungon, mentioned that the awards are given to those health facilities under the following parameters- hospital upkeep, sanitation & hygiene, waste management, infection control, support services and hygiene promotion.

Parliamentary Secretary (Health &Family Welfare) , Phurpa Tsering  praised the staff of award winning hospitals and advised them to carry forward such noble activities in the coming years also.
