ITANAGAR, Sep 13: Information & Public Relations (IPR) minister Bamang Felix today directed the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Itanagar to deliver a detailed action plan for completion of the Film & Television Institute at Jollang Rakap, within a week.
The IPR minister gave the direction during a coordination meeting with the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI), CPWD, Itanagar and the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Naharlagun.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the IPR minister, at the Speaker’s Conference Hall, here, wherein physical progress of the upcoming FTI, Jollang Rakap, and other issues concerning the institute were discussed.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow physical progress of the institute, Felix said that the CPWD, Itanagar needs to ensure its completion within the revised deadline of 31 May 2022, and for which a detailed action plan needs to be prepared.
The Minister also directed the DIPR officials to visit the FTI site every week to monitor its work progress and assist in troubleshooting issues.
Exhorting the house present to go beyond their duties and consider FTI’s establishment their responsibility towards the future generation, Felix assured all possible assistance from the state government for its completion on time.
Felix also made it clear that negligence by the authorities concerned in its completion or creation of hurdles by private individuals or group in its completion, will not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, CPWD, Itanagar, executive engineer Parsoon Kumar Pal assured that the entire structure of the institute will be completed by December. Informing that as of now all residential structures for the institute have been completed, Pal informed that they have scheduled 31 March 2022 as the final completion date - two months ahead of the official completion deadline.
Taking part in the discussion, SRFTI director Prof Debasish Ghoshal informed that they are currently pursuing for recruitment of total 65 staffers, which includes both teaching and non-teaching staff for the FTI with the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
Stating that the said appointments are likely to be sanctioned shortly, Prof Ghoshal informed that the appointments will ensure that the FTI is operational when it gets inaugurated.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IPR secretary N T Glow, DIPR director Dasher Teshi, SRFTI registrar Dr Sushrut Sharma and its nodal officer Prof Samiran Dutta.
