PASIGHAT, Dec 17: After visiting Basar, Aalo and Mechuka, Director for Accounts and Treasuries (A&T), Tedi Techi and Joint Director S. Bhowmik along with Treasury Officer, Robo Megu and F&AO (DC’s Office) K. Tagi inspected the functioning of Treasury Office here on Thursday morning.
After thorough inspection of the existing building and all the branch rooms individually, the Director instructed the Treasury Officer to submit an estimate for urgent nature of maintenance works, required for the office building. He also directed to forward a proposal for immediate construction of overhead water tank and separate strong room for the office ensuring proper and smooth functioning of daily office transactions.
Later, the Director while holding a meeting with the treasury officials stated that the department plays a prominent role in the treasury administration. He asked all to be sincere, dedicated and accountable while delivering service to the state keeping in mind that the Accounts and Treasuries department was created to ensure strict compliance of financial rules and procedures relating to all government transactions.
Treasury management has become much more demanding task and treasury officials at all levels are vital links in the government’s delivery systems and therefore efficiency and competence would enhance the government’s overall performance, he said.
Officials should scrutinize and examine every item of receipts and payment shown in the daily accounts and point out and watch against all irregularities, he added. DIPRO
