Namsai, Dec 17: Without waiting for the official inauguration, the much-awaited dialysis facility through Refurbished Hemodialysis Machine (RHM) has been made functional here at the Namsai District Hospital for the benefit of patients suffering from kidney-related ailments.
Registration for dialysis services which are being provided free can be made online and the facility will be particularly helpful for patients from Namsai, Lohit, Anjaw, Dibang, Lower Dibang Valley and other eastern districts of the state.
“We had to take the patients regularly to Tinsukia or Dibrugarh in Assam for dialysis by hiring cars at high rates and the new dialysis facility here will provide respite from this,” a patient from Namsai said.
When contacted, SMO and District Programme Officer (DPO) Dr M Thomoung said the RHM facility was scheduled to be made operational in February this year, but was delayed due to COVID pandemic. A well-furnished room near the ANM School within the hospital premises has been earmarked for installation of the RHM.
The facility has been set up by a Kolkata-based company under Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme and dialysis services are being provided free to the disadvantaged, poor and all patients covered under National Health Mission.
