ITANAGAR, Apr 7: Deputy Commissioner, capital complex, Prince Dhawan today sought full cooperation from the councillors of the Itanagar Municipal Council for smooth and trouble free work of 4-laning of NH-415. Stating that it is not possible for the District Administration itself to execute the 4-laning work, he requested the councilors to create awareness at the grassroots level among the affected party for giving up the possession of the areas which fall in the right of way (RoW).

‘Itanagar, being a capital desperately needs development and development can only be carried out by the government with the cooperation of people,’ the DC said adding that if the people cooperate and give up possession and demolish their structures in RoW, he will ensure that the structural demolition costs which are paid by the government are given to them as incentives.

He, further, requested all the councilors to set up ward level meeting with all the affected parties and assured that he along with CO (LM) and EE Highway will visit to clarify any doubts amongst the public. He also assured that there will be 100 % transparency in compensation and it will be paid by setting up committee when construction of 4- laning starts.

Further many important issues concerning the capital complex were addressed during a co-ordination meeting between the Itanagar Municipal Council, Highway Engineers and CO (LM) presided by Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan today.

The councilors further expressed their willingness to support the administration in executing the 4-laning works but requested for transparency and fair compensation.

Apart from four laning of NH-415 from Chandranagar to Banderdewa,  town vending committee, littering, slaughters house, beautification of twin city, law & order and illegal encroachment were the topics discussed in detail.

Chief Councillor, IMC, Kipa Kaku, spoke at length regarding the lack of fund for the maintenance of drains of the Itanagar Capital Complex. She expressed that the councilors are ready to extend all help by giving feedback to the District Administration. She also stated that the illegal slaughter houses located within the capital complex has to be closed and the town vending committees need to explore private land for vendors on rent basis.

The DC informed that Executive Engineer, IMC has already been asked to formulate estimates for all sectoral roads and footpaths of the city. Dhawan also informed that on receipt of the resolution from IMC regarding slaughter houses, instructions shall be issued to EAC and COs to implement the same. He also appealed the IMC to help the TVC in identifying the vending zones.
