PASIGHAT, Jan 11: After the Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission (APSFC) said it will pronounce an order against an official for failing to turn up for hearing despite several reminders on the issue of sub-standard quality of rice given to beneficiaries of Mebo Block in East Siang district last year, the concerned District Grievance Redressal Officer cum ADC, Tatdo Borang today called the move a "hasty act and uncalled for".
Clarifying his stand on Wednesday, the DGRO said that a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of EAC (Judicial), Pasighat to look into the matter. The board in its findings stated that the Food Corporation of India (FCI) was actually responsible for issue of sub-standard rice and was directed accordingly to stop immediately the delivery of the same to any fair price shop (FPS) within the district, he said adding that the official report has been submitted to the concerned authority.
Borang also mentioned that the state level vigilance committee headed by its chairman Anok Wangsa along with his delegates had conducted spot verification and had found that there were several bags of sub-standard rice kept inside the FCI godown. Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner of the district in his report to the Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies, had also informed that FCI was completely responsible for delivery of sub-standard rice in the district and was directed for corrective measures. Now this issue has been made amply clear that the FCI should be blamed for such discrepancies, he stated adding that all relevant supporting documents have already been submitted to the APSFC.
The DGRO further apprised that due to sudden visit of the Arunachal Pradesh Governor and observation of Seva Apke Dwar (SAD) at Rengging village, he had to supervise and ensure required arrangements for the said programmes, in the absence of the Deputy Commissioner in the district.
