ITANAGAR, Sep 25:  In the wake of spike in COVID cases among the newly recruited constables at Police Training Centre (PTC) Banderdewa, a meeting headed by DGP, R.P Upadhayaya was held here at his office chamber on Friday.
The DGP, besides giving direction to temporarily suspend training for two weeks, instructed the officials to keep in regular touch with the recruits detected positive and extend all-possible help to them. The officials and staff of the PTC were directed to take all precautionary measures in collaboration with the Health Department to prevent further spread of infection in the campus. The Principal and Vice-Principal were also directed to arrange required infrastructure so that virtual classes of indoor subjects can be conducted as well as to explore the possibilities of conducting the remaining outdoor training by maintaining social distancing norms.
A total of 90 Recruit Constables (R/CTs.) and Recruit Head Constables (R/HCs)- Telecom, undergoing 47th Basic Training at the PTC have been detected COVID-19 positive. Out of the 90, one recruit has recovered and is under home quarantine at PTC. At least 37 recruits were tested positive from D-Company, 5 from E-Coy and 48 from F- company, informed PRO-APP, Dr Hemant Tiwari. The meeting was also attended by IGP (Trg)  Apur Bitin, In-Charge Principal Dr. Hemant Tiwari and Vice Principal  Techi Hanyir. 
Meanwhile, DDMA-Itanagar Capital region has declared the barracks of "D","E" and "F" Coy located in PTC, Banderdewa campus as containment zones. A review meeting to assess the evolving situation and to decide the next course of action will be conducted on October 8 next.
