ITANAGAR, Aug 4:Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is organising special campaigns in 70 central universities including IITs, NITs across the country on 5th August to sensitize students about the Handloom industry and its role in socio economic development of the country. Advisories in this regard have been issued by HRD ministry to all the VCs and Directors to extend all support to DFP in this regard. Regional Office, DFP, Itanagar will be organizing two such campaigns at Rajiv Gandhi University and National Institute of Technology at Itanagar. Resource persons will explain the activities and government schemes for the sector.

It may be noted that 7th August was notified by the union government as National Handlooms Day with the objective to generate awareness about the importance of Handloom industry.
