ITANAGAR, Aug 18:  In a joint press conference, the Galo Welfare Society (GWS), Galo People's Forum (GPF) and Lower Siang District Movement (LSDM) on Wednesday objected the Hage Tari Committee (HTC) for overruling and rejecting the High-level Ministerial Committee  report on Kora Circle.
Addressing a press conference at the press club here today, General Secretary GWS, Gomar Basar said that the re-conduct of public hearing on Tuesday, August 17, at Kora circle was a mockery and indecisive act by the state government, leading to social unrest and violence.
He said that the terms of reference of the Hage Tari Committee was to have deliberation with Adi Baane Kebang and GWS for resolving the issue. However, the committee went beyond its mandated terms of reference and held a public hearing.
“The highest level of the state body, High level Ministerial Committee, has already completed the public hearing and submitted the report on the issue. It was never needed to conduct another public hearing on the matter creating communal unrest,” he said, adding that even the HTC has already expired in March this year as per the order and therefore it has no locus standi in terms of validity.
He also said that the HTC is the 6th committee created to discuss issues related to the Lower Siang district and East Siang district boundary demarcation.
“The repeated public hearing on the issue is the prime reason for creating differences among two communities settled in Kora circle. Therefore, we object to the re-conduct of the public hearing and the state government should go with the notification passed in the Assembly earlier,” he added. Condemning the incident where scores of youths were injured during the public hearing on Tuesday, General Secretary of GPF, Reken Ingo said that it all occurred due to the negligence  of the East Siang district administration and state government, as they were already intimated by the organization of such possibilities on August 16.

The three organizations also made it loud and clear that the creation of any district should not be in the line of community, rather for development of the state and its people.
Meanwhile, Chairman Lower Siang District Movement, Nyadar Loya informed that an FIR has been lodged against miscreants involved in the incident. He appealed to the state home department to arrest the culprits within this month, failing which it threatened to go for a series of democratic movement.
