ITANAGAR, Aug 14: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar has directed the Department of Agriculture to develop strategies for proper market linkages to help farmers get fair price for their organic products in the State Level executive Committee meeting on Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCD) which was held at Civil Secretariat today. The MOVCD aims at development of certified organic production in a value chain mode to link growers with consumers and to support the development of the entire value chain, starting from inputs, seed, certification, to the creation of facilities for collection, aggregation, processing marketing and brand building initiative.
Chairing the meeting, the Chief Secretary asked the department to look into the marketing aspect for the benefit of the farmers and also for successful implementation of MOVCD in the State.
“Arunachal Pradesh has huge potential for organic farming. There is also high market demand and value for organic products in India and the rest of the world. However, there is a need to address the gap between buyer and seller, and provide the farmers with required organic certification,” he said.

Kumar told the Department to open a dedicated website for the certified organic products under the Brand Arunachal logo which will enable it to reach out to wider customers. He also asked the Department to set up stalls/ kiosks at Airports in Guwahati and Delhi, Naharlagun Railway Station etc. Suggesting the importance of proper publicity and advertisement of the products, the CS said marketing strategies will help to build a Brand Arunachal. Further, he suggested the Department to take up one or two crops specific to a district for higher volume of production. The meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Bidol Tayeng, Secretary Industries Hage Tari, Director Agriculture Anong Lego, General Manager NABARD GK Nair and others.
 Meanwhile, Kumar unveiled two books titled, Performance Report of NABARD in Arunachal Pradesh- Annual Report 2019-20, and Study Report on issues of SHGs Bank Linkage Programmes in Arunachal Pradesh. PRO to CS
