ITANAGAR, Jul 18:

 

With the motive to brief the basic Excise Acts and Rules to the Bar and IMFL Retail Owners of Capital Complex, a seminar cum awareness campaign on Excise Acts and other relevant laws was conducted by District Administration Capital Complex in collaboration with the Tax and Excise Department today at Banquet Hall Itanagar.  The programme holds significance given the crackdown on bars and similar outlets including the fact that few bars were also sealed by the DA.

During the programme, views were exchanged and feedbacks were taken from the licencees. The Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan, impressed upon them the need to follow the legal provisions and to abide by the law while running such outlets. He also sought their cooperation in implementing the rules.

 

Citing deteriorating law and order problem in the Capital Complex as one of the reasons to regulate the timings,  Dhawan also cited the examples of metro cities like Delhi where such rules are followed rigorously. This he said when requested by the owners of bars and IMFL retail owners regarding the same. Acknowledging the importance of entertainment like nightlife in cities, the DC stressed that one should organise such things but only after going through all the legal provisions.

He further informed that there are application formats available for organising DJ nights and other such activities in the DC office for which permission has to be taken. When the owners mentioned about the restriction of 2 litres of liquor per person when bulk order for parties come, the DC urged them to get Special party licences for such occasions. He also asked them to compulsorily display the order copy given by the DA mentioning various Dos and Dont’s in their respective outlets.  

The owners also provided a copy of illegally running bars and IMFL outlets to which the DC assured that necessary action would be taken. Lastly, the DC appealed them to cooperate with the District Administration and assured to look into all their grievances.

 

Earlier, Kiran Ningo, EAC (Judicial) Capital Complex had briefed about the motive of the programme. Biki Diganto, Inspector (Tax and Excise) presented a power point presentation on Excise Act and Rules. Jiken Bomjen EAC Itanagar and Nabam Nagung, Superintendent of Tax and Excise also spoke on the occasion.
