RONO HILLS, May 7: Despite the prevailing Covid pandemic, Rajiv Gandhi University has successfully completed a series of interviews for recruitment of new faculty members through a blended mode in two different phases.
The 1st phase of interviews was conducted from April 1-9 for 9 departments and with approval from the Executive Council and after declaration of results on April 10, 16 candidates were selected. According to the press release issued on Friday by the RGU, most of these new recruits have already joined their respective departments. Along with these new recruitments, interviews for promotion under Career Advance Scheme (CAS) were also held for 5 departments in which 7 faculty members were promoted to the next higher posts. A total of 35 faculty members who were not required to appear for interviews were also promoted to the next higher grade/stage under CAS as per UGC regulations. The 2nd phase of interviews for promotion under CAS was held from May 3-6 in which 8 departments were covered. A total of 16 faculty members will be promoted to higher ranks which includes 7 to the post of Professor and 9 to the post of Associate Professor and as on May 6, formalities for all pending promotion cases under CAS have been completed. However, the result will be announced after receipt of approval from the Executive Council.
It’s worth mentioning that the lone Central university of the state has already filled up all its statutory positions including Registrar, Finance Officer and Controller of Examinations last year. The varsity authority has informed that in due course of time and after normalization of Covid situation, remaining faculty positions will also be filled up.
