TEZU, Aug 16: In the wake of a now viral audio clip alleging 'cash for job' scam in the recent recruitment of Nursing Officers (contractual), under National Health Mission, the District Medical Officer, Lohit district has withheld the result notification and has served showcause notice to the DRCHO within two days time.
In the audio clip, one of the candidates is heard claiming that she has paid Rs 2 lakh for the post but her name was not on the selected list.
When contacted, DMO- Zonal Hospital Tezu, Dr.C Chai Pul informed that departmental inquiry has been initiated based on the audio clip and Show Cause Notice has been issued to the concerned DRCHO.
“It is very shocking for all of us too,” said the DMO while referring to the viral audio clip.
Responding to query over the allegations, DRCHO Dr. S Tamut termed the allegation as baseless. "I have submitted my clarification as asked by the DMO based on the Show Cause notice issued against my name, though there was no mention of my name in the audio clip," he said.
Deputy Commissioner Lohit, who is also the Chairman of District Health Service couldn’t be contacted for his comment on the issue despite repeated attempts.
Earlier, on August 15 last, Chief Minister Pema Khandu responding to query by reporters on the viral clip, assured that he will seek a report on the issue as his government is against such corruption of cash for job.
The Advertisement for the Nursing Officer (Contractual) under NHM for Lohit District was issued on 16th August last. The Written test was held on August 11 and OCSE test was held for 28 candidates on August 12 last. After the OSCE test, at least 10 Nursing Officers were selected and the notification was published on the same day.
If the allegation proves true, this would be another blot for the state government which claims of transparency and voiced against nepotism as well as corruption after the APSSB “cash for job" scandal.
