PASIGHAT, Aug 23: Dr. Kaling Darang has been in the news through social media platforms recently for his exceptional life-like sculptures displaying the characteristic ethnic flavours of the Northeast.
A successful dental surgeon for the last two decades and based in both Pasighat and Guwahati, Dr. Darang hails from Rengging village and is the eldest son of Late Tayon Darang, the district’s former Deputy Commissioner.
Sculpting is his recent passion which he has been nurturing since 2015 and initially self-taught, he is now being mentored by the world-renowned sculptor Robert Bodem who happens to be the former Director of the Sculpture Programme in Florence Academy of Art, Italy.
Dr. Darang aspires to promote the exotic culture and heritage of Northeast India across the world through the art of sculpting.
