ITANAGAR, Jun 23 :   Alleging   that the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) have totally failed in protecting the drinking water supply source from contamination at Senki View in Senki river, the denizens of capital has appealed the Chief Minister, PHED Minister  and Chief Secretary to intervene.
The Senki View Welfare Committee (SWC) have approached the PHED department and capital district administration and even the local police about the nuisance created by certain   youths in the vicinity of the water plant located on the bank of Senki river but without much effect. SWC Chairman Kipa Lolgo informed that on several occasion they have made representation and highlighted how hundreds of youths visit the river on summer days in the name of taking bath and organise party and pollute the river with bleaching powder, soaps and other chemicals. We have objected the youths to refrain from such activities but without much success, Lolgo said.
SWC General Secretary Kale Cheda said that local residents are facing lots of problems due to this influx of outsiders with hundreds of vehicles parked in front of the residences of  the locals leading to frequent  quarrels and chaos. We are not objecting any one from taking bath but they should take bath downstream and  leave   the upstream clean and hygienic, Cheda added.
SWC IPR Secretary Tamchi Niania said that PHED department had also tried its  best to stop  outsiders from entering into the river side and have created boundary fencing, iron gate but that efforts have proved to be ineffective.
The Capital Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta on May 8 last prohibited all kind of leisure activities including picnic at Senki View and other parts. Same order was issued by Itanagar DC Prince Dhawan on August 21 2018 banning  bathing, picnic party etc.
