PASIGHAT, Jul 5:

 

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), East Siang, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat  organized a demonstration programme on feasibility of transplanting rice using self -propelled four-row walk behind type  rice transplanter  machines at  Runne village  in East Siang District.

The demonstration was conducted at farmer’s field and the machine can transplant 1 to 1.2 hectare area in a day with 7 to 8 litre of fuel consumption and can save 30 man days per hectare over manual transplanting.  During the interaction, expert from the KVK imparted knowledge to the farmer’s regarding the rice transplanting machine and need of selective machinery especially for paddy cultivation in the district, when seeking solutions for the problems like drudgery, high production cost, low cropping intensity and above all the labour scarcity.
