ITANAGAR, Sep 10: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) is scheduled to confer the first "State Democracy Awards" instituted by the State Election Commission, Arunachal Pradesh on September 15 next at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre, Itanagar to organisations and individuals who displayed outstanding performances during general elections of the local bodies in Arunachal Pradesh in 2020.
The state level awards ceremony will be attended by Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein as Guest of Honour and Home Minister Bamang Felix as Special Guest among a host of other dignitaries.
The day is being celebrated as International Democracy Day coinciding with the completion of two decades of State Election Commission, Arunachal Pradesh. The important events which culminate on the occasion include release of Commemorative Compendium, Essay & Painting competitions, cultural events, Webinar etc in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University. This occasion is also to acknowledge the support and co-operation extended to the Commission by the State Government and all other stakeholders, the SEC said in a release today.
