NIRJULI, Sep 27: A decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found in a mysterious condition at the confluence of Dikrong and Kankar Nallah River near Lekhi Hapa village here on Monday.
Speaking to reporters, Officer in-charge, Nirjuli police station, Minli Geyi said that police were alerted by one Gollo Kamso at around 2 pm today about the dead body. After receiving the information, the police team along with the EAC visited the spot and carried out the verification.
“As of now, the police is not in a situation to identify the name and other information about the deceased. However, by going through the clothing and ornaments, it is certain that the deceased is a female with a height of 4 feet 6 inches,” he said.
The body is totally decomposed and the skeleton only remains, he added.
He said a suo-moto case No. UD 5/2021 has been registered at Nirjuli police station and the case will be investigated under him. Accordingly, every possible measure will be taken at first to identify the deceased through various procedures and approaches.
“We will be investigating the case further to unearth the reason of death, the age, and other aspects to bring the case to conclusion,” he said, adding that the police can’t state any specific time frame to solve the matter, as of now.
He also appealed to the media to help in identifying the deceased. The body has been moved to the RKM Hospital.
