NAMSAI, Sep 3: In a first case of Covid-19 insurance realisation in the state as well as in entire Northeast, the family of Late Sangpuia Tayo, the contingency driver attached to Zonal Hospital, Lohit who died while on duty in a road accident on July 4 last at Lathao was handed over an amount of Rs 50 lakh by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Thursday through a virtual ceremony at NIC Tezu.
Handing over the insurance amount, Mein paid tribute to the corona warrior and assured to extend all-possible assistance to the family of the deceased.
Health Minister Alo Libang who also attended the virtual meeting applauded the corona warriors of Lohit for successfully treating and discharging the first Covid-19 patient of the state which served as a source of encouragement to the state’s health apparatus. Libang stated that Arunachal Pradesh is the second highest in the country in terms of Covid cure rate and while appealing all not to panic, he also reminded the need to maintain the SOPs. Releasing the insurance amount to the family, the Health Minister informed that this is the first corona warrior insurance delivery case in the whole of the Northeast that has been provided to the next of kin of the corona warrior who lost his life while on Covid duty.
DMO Lohit, Dr S Chai Pul expressed her gratitude to all concerned for quick processing and delivery of the insurance amount to the bereaved family. The amount has been transferred by the New India Insurance Co. Ltd. Guwahati (Assam) to the bank account of Radhika Chetry Tayo, wife of Late Tayo.
Siam Thanggi, the mother of Late Tayo thanked all for helping the family at the hour of distress. DC Lohit Prince Dhawan and DIO NIC Tezu, June Kadu were also among others present. DCM Media Cell
