ITANAGAR, Jul 5: The family members of late Sangpuia Tayo, the frontline Covid warrior who died while on duty in a fatal road accident driving an ambulance in Lathao near the Tengapani Reserve area in Namsai on Saturday has made an appeal to the Chief Minister and the Secretary Health and Family Welfare to provide a regular job to one of the dependent family member on compassionate ground.
Late Tayo was assigned to transport Covid patients and swab samples to the ICMR Laboratory in Dibrugarh when he met with the accident and succumbed to injuries. He is survived by his wife, aged mother, four-year-old son and a school-going brother. “The deceased was the only bread-earner in the family and his untimely death has devastated the entire family which was completely dependent on him,” Tayo Welfare Society (TWS) President Tayo Nibing said in a press statement on Sunday.
“My brother has lost his life while serving the people during this critical time. After his death, the future of the entire family has become uncertain and I humbly appeal to the state government to compensate this loss by providing a regular job to one of his dependent so that the child gets education and the aged mother is properly taken care,” Advocate Hero Tayo, a cousin brother of the deceased Covid warrior appealed. 
Late Sangpuia was a native of Seppa, East Kameng district and was serving as a contingency driver in District Hospital Tezu since November 2015. TWS while deeply condoling the unfortunate death, termed it as a supreme sacrifice made while fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and has prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. The Chief Minister had also expressed his shock and sorrow on Saturday over the death of the frontline worker and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. “The state and its people are with the bereaved family during these trying times,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has demanded that the family members of the deceased who died while on duty should be taken care by the state government. “The bereaved family should be adequately compensated,” APWWS’s message read. 
The All Mishmi Women's Welfare Society, an affiliate body of APWWS along with the CBOs visited the house of the bereaved family to offer condolences.
