BOMDILA, Oct 25: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), West Kameng in collaboration with the 12 National Disaster Response Force, Itanagar conducted Tabletop Exercise (TTX) on disaster management  at Bomdila on Monday today.
ADC Sang Khandu who is also an Incident Commander of DDMA briefed the roles & responsibilities of all the members department during natural calamities and urged them to be present in the DDMA meeting. He advised the 12 NDRF to prepare an annual calendar to conduct awareness programmes on disasters quarterly in a year.
“Disasters never come by informing us, everyone should prepare themselves to tackle the disasters,” he stated.
SP Sharma, Assistant Commandant 12 NDRF, Itanagar while interacting with the gathering highlighted the role of NDRF and presented life saving tips through power point presentation.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has been working in the country since 2006 which was established under the Disaster Management Act of 2005.
NDRF is a specialized response team constituted for the purpose of tackling various natural and man-made disasters. Presently NDRF has 15 BNs with 1149 strengths of well trained members, he informed.
I/C DDMO Tashi informed that DDMA is timely updating the name and contact details of the members of DDMA. To know the exact manpower and resource of each department, DDMA is collecting the data through “Resource Inventory Data” which can be used during calamities.
During any disaster emergency, one can call 1077 toll free helpline number, which is active 24/7, he informed.
