PASIGHAT, Jan 30: Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu accompanied by DMO Dr. Radesh Tatan and WASE President Yamik Dulom Darang visited today the Drug De-addiction cum Rehabilitation Center located at Jarkong village, Pasighat and interacted with the inmates and enquired about their health and reviewed the overall functioning of the center including issues and needs.
Sharing his views, the DC stated that existing studies have found that drug addiction makes a person hollow from inside and causes huge loss of money, prestige and valuable time.  The Pasighat de-addiction cum rehabilitation center has been proving to be a boon for the addicts so that they could return home after taking appropriate medical care and guidance here.
Taggu appreciated the medical officers, nurses and other staff members for their dedicated services stating that rehabilitation aspect must be ensured in the right earnest. He directed the authorities to ensure cleanliness in the  center to keep the environment healthy for all and stressed on discipline, healthy food, counseling and yoga on regular basis in particular for healthy body and mind. Continued use of drugs might be a result of insecurities, destructive and cause of depression, anxiety etc and finally social non-acceptance leading to negative consequences, opined the DC and in order to eradicate this evil, he made fervent appeal to the government functionaries and NGOs to sensitize society about the harmful effects of drugs abuse through massive awareness by delivering information through interactive methods and cultural sensitivity. 
DMO Dr Radesh Tatan advised the inmates to strongly resolve to kick the habit of drug addiction with strong determination and commitment. Tatan informed the visiting DC that altogether ten addicted person from East Siang and neighboring districts were admitted at present and all were provided required facilities and guidance. He also briefed about the ongoing construction works of the thirty bedded new building, volleyball and badminton courts and internal roads etc under Smart City project which are expected to be completed at the end of June, this year.
