ITANAGAR, Jun 14: Itanagar Capital Region Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom today in a virtual meeting of the Itanagar Planning Authority with IMC mayor Tame Phassang, corporators and concerned officials discussed issues relating to overall development of the Capital Complex and implementation of the building bye laws to check haphazard and illegal construction and encroachment.
The need of the hour is to have a clear division of works among departments for faster execution of developmental works, Phassang said while stressing on the need to set respective priorities followed by execution of responsibilities in a gradual manner.
The nuisance of haphazard and unplanned construction should be checked along with a proper drainage system throughout the city and strict implementation of the building bye laws, he added. All EEs of Works departments stressed on making building permission and NOC from all concerned departments mandatory prior to any construction and approval of design from architects. 
Director Town Planning Likha Suraj informed that Arunachal Pradesh Urban and Country Planning Act 2007 which was enacted to ensure development of urban areas, prevent encroachments of public lands and bring regulations for building construction is under implementation and the Master Plan for cities is at a preliminary stage and the same would be notified after suggestions and feedback from citizens. Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye Laws 2019 is also under implementation and elaborate discussion would be held with the Itanagar Planning Authority on how to implement it in letter and spirit, he added.
While seeking cooperation from the IMC corporators in checking and identifying the locations where such illegal activities are being carried out, the DC said that District Administration will also issue notices to such violators. We all should cooperate and work together in stopping such nuisances and making the state capital a better place to live, he said.
