Itanagar, Sep 9: A meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex Talo Potom with the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Naharlagun Welfare Association, , Weekly Market Committee and others at Mini Secretariat today to discuss various issues regarding sale of tobacco and IMFL near school areas, sale of IMFL in ghumties etc.
The DC informed that as per the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products( Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act 2003(COTPA), selling of tobacco products to any person who is under 18 years of age( minor) and sale, offer or permit sale of cigarette and any other tobacco products and display of tobacco products in an area within a radius of 100 yards of any educational institutions has been banned vide a prohibitory order issued by the DC cum DM on September 6 last.
He sought the cooperation of ACCI and Market Associations to ensure proper implementation of the order and also asked them to check such illegal selling within their jurisdiction from time to time.
The issue of illegal donation was also discussed to which the DC said that such cases should be reported and only then we will be able to control such illegal activities. During the meeting, the issue of parking was also discussed. DIPRO
