Executive Engineer, Highway Division, Ziro informed the DC that advance payment for materials have already been made and the consignment along with engineers/technicians from Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd. (BRCIL), Kolkata are expected to reach Tamen on July 20. Earlier, on June 26 the DC conducted a joint meeting with the Highway Department, BRCIL officers and local leaders in which a six-week timeline was given to the BRCIL for procurement of materials and restoration of the bridge. A District Level Inquiry Committee (DLIC) headed by ADC, Raga was also constituted by the DC to ascertain the causes of damages. As per the preliminary report submitted by the DLIC, the damage was due to the movement of an overloaded dumper over the bridge.
The report mentioned that ideally the bridge should have been designed for withstanding load capacities of 40-45 tonnes taking into consideration the ongoing TAH construction works. The DC has directed the Chairman, DLIC to submit its full report without further delay. DIPRO
