Koloriang, Aug 2: With the objective of making a ground-level assessment of the Covid-19 response mechanism in Kurung Kumey district, Deputy Commissioner Kento Riba on Sunday made an inspection tour which covered various locations.
The DC visited the strategically important check gate at Guha Tarak erected a few months back as part of the pandemic combat efforts, located 45 km away from the district headquarters here along with the District Surveillance Officer Dr Boni Tuluk and other officials and reviewed its functioning.  Interacting with the frontline health workers he thanked them for their dedicated service and provided them with utensils, ration items and masks on behalf of the District Administration. The DC also supplied them formats developed by him for recording and reporting daily activities at the check gate and accepting their request, directed the Sub-Divisional Officer of Sangram, Tsering Phuntsok Monpa to construct a toilet. The Public Health Engineering Department was also directed to restore the hand-washing system that was installed with much fanfare earlier to sanitize commuters coming into the district from various parts of the state.
Later on the day, he inspected the makeshift building constructed to provide accommodation to the police and health workers manning the gate 24x7. He also took stock of the inventory for PPE and other material for functioning of the Covid-19 screening and detection system arranged under the aegis of the health department and DA. On detecting that there was scarcity of spray sanitizers, he assured to provide them by Monday. Acting on the directives of the state government for upgrading security and surveillance at check gates, the DC directed the Nodal Officer of Covid-19, Kurung Kumey Yumlam Tana to initiate and supervise an early installation of CCTV cameras at the check gate.
