Khonsa, Jul 20: Tirap DC Bhanu Prabha on Monday called a meeting here to find out the reasons for poor results of the district’s schools in the recently declared CBSE results.
The administrative officers, DDSE and all the Principals from Government Higher Secondary Schools of Khonsa, Deomali and Borduria and Headmasters from the Secondary Schools of Khonsa, Soha, Deomali, Thinsa, Kapu, Lazu, Dadam, Pinewood School and Upper Kolam attended the meeting. The main objective of the meeting was to make an introspection and find out the way-forward involving result-oriented strategies so that the district's schools can achieve better results in the coming years. Year-wise academic achievements w.e.f. 2016-17 to 2019-20 and the bottlenecks were discussed.
The DC while asking all the School Heads to explain the reason behind the poor performance in this year’s CBSE results, stated that the pass percentage of Longding and Changlang districts are far better than Tirap. She also informed that in order to improve the quality of education in the district, she would engage herself with the subordinate Administrative officers to take extra classes in Mathematics, Economic and Science subjects till the postings of subject teachers are completed. After prolonged interactions with the Principals and Headmasters, DC didn’t conceal her unhappiness and urged them to be more dedicated and sincere.
She also instructed the DDSE, Khonsa to initiate weekly tests for the students from Classes VIII-XII which will be supervised/monitored by DIO Rakesh Das, NIC, Khonsa for which all the PGTs will set question papers centrally at Khonsa. Responding to the appeal from the Headmaster of GSS Kapu, DC assured to provide 50 cots for the hostel students and lauded the Principal GHSS, Deomali for the academic achievement of 92.31 % in CBSE 2019-20 and assured to expedite the posting of Mathematics/Economics teachers.
DDSE Khonsa Hortum Loyi informed that he would introduce the district level board examination for Classes IV, VI and VII for which he appealed to all the teachers to look back to their feeder schools and guide them by supervising/monitoring and maintaining log books.
EAC Deomali Akon Ragon, DAEO Kutung Hangphuk, COs Pik Tayom, Lim Modi, D.K. Thungdok and BLEOs were among others present in the meeting. DIPRO
