BOMDILA, Jul 29: Despite inclement weather, Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop today inspected the entire stretch of the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road coming under the district’s jurisdiction to get first-hand information and also to review the blockade imposed till August 15. Movement of all types of vehicles has been prohibited on the BCT road from Pinjoli Bridge to Tenga in the district effecting from July 11 to till August 15.
Further, during the closure, the BRTF was directed to clear the debris and take up the road restoration and construction works on both the BCT as well as OKSRT road by deploying maximum excavator and necessary manpower.
On the way, the Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the affected family members of Kaspi village who had suffered and endured nature’s vagaries on July 8 last. Besides loss of property, a human life was also lost on the fateful day. The DC assured the affected family members that relief assistance would be provided today itself from the ADC Singchung through PFMS for the damaged houses and hotels.
BCT road has suffered major rocky as well as sandy landslides and road washouts in several areas. The new diversion alignment works of BCT ahead of Jamiri circle is under progress. However, in the 93-97 km stretch, few machinery have been deployed and it is completely blocked.
The Deputy Commissioner further observed that, it would be of immense help to public, tourists and the Agency themselves if BRTF deployed more numbers of new excavators and placed more manpower to expedite the work and to ensure timely completion of the project, which is of strategic importance.
