ZIRO, Jul 18: Braving inclement weather, Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri, Somcha Lowang carried out physical verification of schemes implemented in the district under CMSKY and CCI by Horticulture Department by visiting the Kiwi gardens of the beneficiaries.
She was accompanied by DHO Komri Murtem and Taro Tatang, Chairman and Mihin Tayu, General Secretary, Kiwi Growers Cooperative Society, Ziro .
While lauding the efforts of DHO, Ziro and his team including the office bearers of Kiwi Growers Cooperative Society, Ziro in promotion of cultivation of Kiwi fruit as sustainable venture among the people of the district, she requested the beneficiaries to put in the best effort to reap bumper harvest and not to depend only on government assistance. She also directed the officers and officials of Horticulture Department to regularly impart training to the farmers in cultivation practices so that, production and productivity increases.
The DHO informed that field training on pruning of Kiwi and other scientific cultivation practices were imparted to the beneficiaries by scientists from the state in collaboration with the DHO office, Ziro.
While clarifying on non procurement and supply of GI Wire and Angle post under the CMSKY and CCI during last financial year, he further informed that, the fund was provided only for procurement of planting materials and requested DC to peruse the matter with the government as GI Wire and Angle post is an important component of Kiwi cultivation and expensive for the beneficiaries to procure from their end.
