ZIRO, Aug 24: Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri District interacted with the Farmers Interest Group ( FIG) under Mission Organic Value Development Programme (MOVCD) in Lower Subansiri district today.
MOVCD programme started in the district in 2015-16 to cover 500 hectare of land for Organic certification. The scheme aims at developing certified organic production in a value chain starting from inputs, seeds, certification, to the creation of facilities for collection, aggregation, processing, marketing and brand building initiative. Till the year 2019-20, the district has got C3 certificate for Kiwi fruit in the district in the 1st phase.
Out of 500 hectare, 180 hectare are under Kiwi and 320 hectare under Large cardamom in MOVCD programme. The IInd phase of MOVCD is ready to be started soon this year.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Tasso Butung, DAO Ziro and Komri Murtem, DHO, Ziro, Joram Robi, ADO, BoD members of Organic Kiwi & Large Cardamom producers Company.
Deputy Commissioner while interacting with the farmers and officials of Agril & Horti deptt expressed hope that the farmers of the district will witness a good future once the Organic certification is obtained.
Later, she visited the office of "Subansiri Organic Kiwi & Large Cardamom Producer Company" at Hapoli. DIPRO
