KHARSANG, Apr 26: Deputy Commissioner of Changlang RK Sharma on Sunday visited the entry points of Kharsang to assess the Covid-19 preparedness. He also visited the check gates and quarantine centres. “As of now, there is no confirmation on the lockdown withdrawal, but we cannot take chances,” DC said, adding that the DA is well-prepared and maintaining strict vigil of every movement in all entry points of the district. While responding to the query on stranded people from Changlang district, DC informed that there are at least 3000 of them comprising both students and others from the district and if the lockdown is called off, DA is adequately prepared to face this return. He underlined that every stranded person returning from other states has to disclose his/her respective travel history and must go through a compulsory quarantine of 14 days in the quarantine facilities. While speaking on the financial assistance of Rs 3500 to the stranded people, DC informed that they have distributed the assistance to at least 542 of them and the rest will also be covered soon after proper verification.
