Itanagar, Oct 27: Deputy Commissioner Capital Itanagar, Talo Potom today held a meeting to discuss regarding various issues pertaining to banks within Capital Complex and opening of accounts in respect of students. 
The Lead Bank Manager S. Ranjit Singh informed that the students with accounts in any banks are eligible for availing benefits of various government schemes. He however highlighted that few teachers/ principals are insisting the students to open accounts only in SBI, which is causing difficulties to the school children.
During the meeting various issues pertaining to Banks were discussed in detail. Few queries were raised by the Team Miss Capital, 2021 such as defunct ATMs, Customer service points, opening of account of students, bakijai cases, DDUSY etc. to which the Lead Bank Manager informed that the operation of ATMs have been outsourced and the reason for defunct ATMs is mainly due to technical issues. He informed that experts are coming from outside the State, which is causing delay in servicing. He further, informed that the matter has already been brought to the notice of the competent authority and is under active consideration. 
Regarding Customer Service Points charging fees from customers for withdrawal, deposit and transfer of money, the Lead Bank Manager informed that such persons are not authorized to charge any money from customers. He said that the public can lodge written complaint in the Bank Branch if they come across such instances.

The Manager further informed that Zero Balance account can be opened immediately at any bank and the students with accounts in any banks are eligible for availing benefits of various government schemes.
During the meeting, it was also highlighted that as per section 160 of the Income Tax Act, even minors are eligible to apply for PAN card as there is no age limit requirement specified in the Act. 
While also highlighting the issue of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana, it was informed that the beneficiary list selected by the District Administration was distributed equally to all the banks on the same day itself by the Lead Bank. However, loans are being disbursed at the convenience of the respective Banks.
Also, it was decided that henceforth all Bakijai cases shall be heard by the Deputy Commissioner, Capital and the Certificate Officer shall handover all Bakijai cases to the DC immediately.
Later, the DC requested the Lead Bank Manager to explore the possibilities of sponsoring for opening of Drug Rehabilitation Centre under CSR activities.
