ITANAGAR, Jul 27:Awareness cum sensitization programme on Vector Borne Diseases was held today by Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan which was attended by Chief Councillor Kipa Kaku, Deputy Chief Councillor, Tarh Nachung, Councilors, CMEO Habung Lampung, DMO Dr. Tasso Khampu and other officers.

Terming that such awareness programme is needed with the advent of the monsoon, the DC called upon the Councilors and sought their collaborative effort, especially in community participation and requested them to pass on the message to their respective wards.

The DC directed the DMO and her team to liaise with the IMC to conduct such awareness at various locations within the jurisdiction of each Councilor. He also directed her to issue pamphlets with the various Dos and Don’ts regarding the preventive measures to avoid the outbreak of such diseases.

Earlier, as a preventive measure, an order was also passed directing the Director (Health Services) and DMO, Capital Complex to take adequate measures to prevent water borne diseases/vector borne diseases in the Capital Complex.

The DC also urged the Councilors to conduct regular cleanliness drives and to check garbage management as well as to check stagnant water storage at their respective jurisdiction. He also informed that an order in this regard would be passed following which regular inspection would be carried out and those found guilty would be faced with penalty up to Rs 1500 per container/tyre etc.

Dr. Khampu also urged upon the councilors to cooperate and pass on the information to the residents of their respective wards as they are the ones who are connected with the residents at ground level. She also stressed on the need to have the knowledge regarding various preventive measures
