ROING, Jul 9: A district level consultation-cum-review meeting to assess the performance of banks in Lower Dibang Valley with a focus on credit-deposit (CD) ratio and adoption of the Annual Credit Plan for 2012-22 was held today here at the DC’s Conference Hall in presence of Deputy Commissioner K. N. Damo.
Schematic progress of government schemes namely KCC, PMEGP, Mudra Loan, Kisan Credit Card, Fishery KCC, WCC, SHG finance, financial literacy/skill development programmes, PM social security schemes like PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY and APY and recovery of government sponsored loans including Bakijai cases were reviewed during the meeting. Expressing dismay over the decrease in CD ratio by 1.73% from 21.41% on December 31, 2020 to 19.68% on March 31, 2021, the DC asked the banks to perform better and meet the targets.
Referring to the central and state government schemes for agriculture, MSME etc. that intend to give a thrust to the rural economy, the DC enjoined the district’s bankers to educate the people on the types of loans available and help them out in complex paperwork processes, warning along with that only the performing banks would be allotted business under government schemes. Addressing the concern of the banks regarding defaulters/poor repayment of government scheme loans, he recommended seeking help from GBs, CBOs and panchayat members to root out bogus applicants and extend loans only to the genuine beneficiaries.
Advising the banks to use social media platforms extensively to inform customers about schemes, the DC instructed them to prepare actionable annual plans and stick to their implementation. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the crowded conditions at banks and advised to ensure Covid SOPs.
Lead District Manager, SBI Roing A. P. Singha was the meeting’s convener. DPO Marto Dirchi, representatives from government departments, ArSRLM and BMMU, Roing were also present. DIPRO
