ITANAGAR, Feb 4: The founder of Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Itanagar and Tirap,o Father Cyriac PC has passed away at the age of 61.
Father Cyriac was found dead in his room at St. Mary's Church, Dying Ering Colony in the capital on Wednesday last. As per the Police report, on February 3 at around 9.20 pm an information was received regarding the death and the incident came to light when he was found absent from the evening prayer and his room locked from inside. Later, his body was found hanging from a ceiling fan and preliminary findings suggest it’s a case of suicide. Executive Magistrate Likha Radh, SDPO Kamdam Sikom and OC P. Simi rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry, an official informed. The SDPO informed that after post mortem the body has been handed over for the last rites. “We cannot disclose anything about the reason for his death as the post mortem report is yet to arrive,” he said while informing that a UD case No.04/21 u.s. 174 CrPC has been registered.
Born on 19 April, 1962 to Lt. Lucka Kurian Pulinthanathumalayil in Kuravilangad in Kerala's Kottayam district Father Cyriac became a member of the Salesians of Don Bosco on 24 May 1984. He became a priest on 4 January 1994 and was the Founder-Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre Khonsa in Tirap where he worked from 2000 to 2007.
He was also the Founder-Director of DBYC Itanagar and a recipient of Government of Arunachal Pradesh and Government of India awards for his service to youths especially in the field of skill development.
