ITANAGAR, Apr 30: Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC) on Thursday organized food relief programmes in the outskirts of Capital Complex for the workers, children and senior citizens to mark the death anniversary of former chief minister late Dorjee Khandu.
Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) & Childline Itanagar Likha Asha and Advocate Taring Mayu, executive member of the Association of Don Bosco Past Pupils participated. DBYC Director Fr. Cyriac SDB explained the dual reasons of the programme which was to pay homage to the former CM and to honour the state’s working class on the eve of International Labour Day. 
“Late Dorjee Khandu laid the foundation stone of DBYC way back in 2009 and we would like to pay homage to him and do something relevant in memory of his benign character,” he said while praying for well-being of the state’s workers.
Advocate Mayu, who was present at Baatt, Moin and Poma expressed happiness for being associated with the activities of Don Bosco as a past pupil and explained the benefits of social distancing and cleanliness. CWC Chairperson instructed the mothers to take care of their children and their personal health and hygiene in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic and called on everyone to collaborate with the Childline in reaching out to the children in distress through the 1098 toll free service. The participants were provided with dry ration in form of rice, dal, sugar, chana, mattor, atta, pasteurized milk, refined oil and soap. The organizers also distributed reusable masks provided by Capital SP Tumme Amo and reminded the necessity of wearing the same at all times while in public places. 
A large number of BPL families from the villages of Baatt, Moin Happ and Poma were benefited and the endeavour was supported by BJP Yuva Morcha leader Kino Boken and various others. DBYC PR
