ITANAGAR, Nov 20: Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC) organized a simple function to mark the last and final batch of three-months’ residential training in Hospitality for the year 2019 with 100% placement of all successful trainees achieving a total of 71 dropout youths put into job in the hospitality industry in Kerala and Pondicherry.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Fr. Kamil Horo, Parish Priest of Catholic Church, Itanagar while congratulating the trainees and the staff of DBYC for successful completion and placement of yet another batch, exhorted the trainees to be grateful to God, to Don Bosco and to everyone involved in making them employable. He also encouraged the trainees to go ahead to placement locations with hope and determination.
In his introductory words Fr. Cyriac, Director, DBYC congratulated the trainees for being disciplined, cooperative and hard working and hoped that they continue with the same spirit. He requested them to keep in touch and not to miss out the annual evaluation cum training, which is a key post-placement support for the trainees, due to take place in the first week of January 2020 at Kuravilangad, Kerala.
Allaying fears cast on skill training in the State as not organized, haphazard and leading to immoral living by youth in the metros, Fr. Cyriac said, “as far as I have seen and experienced after dealing with real life situations, the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is doing a great job with systematic follow up. Besides, DBYC Itanagar, can vouch that our placements are foolproof and done scientifically. However, I do know that there are some youngsters who move out of the DBYC network or for that matter the Government network and stray into unfamiliar grounds and land up in troubled waters.”
He also requested the parents present not to give too much weightage to people who constantly write negatively in social media forums about skill development activities of the State as inappropriate, as most of it is going extremely well. He also expressed his gratitude to Subu Tabin, Director of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for joining the DBYC trainees for the evaluation and training programme in Kerala in January this year.
