PASIGHAT, Jun 21: The fraternity of the Daying Ering College of Teacher Education, Pasighat today observed the 51st death anniversary of the architect of modern Arunachal, Dr. Daying Ering. 
The programme began with a “Shradhanjali” at the cemetery of late Ering followed by homage at his statue near the Siang Guest House, Pasighat with the garlanding and lighting of 51 candles, led by Prof. Dhruba Jyoti Taid, HoD of the college, symbolising the 51st death anniversary.
A short meet was organised at the college premises where notably Prof Dhruba Taid and Dr. AK Jha, Assistant Professor (Department of Chemistry of JN College Pasighat) highlighted the esteemed contributions of late Ering in the field of education and society as a whole.
Born in Runne village near Pasighat on 11th December, 1929, Ering started his career in the Indian Frontier Administrative Service. Later, he was nominated as a Member of Loksabha from North Eastern Frontier Agency (NEFA) in 1963 and also served as Parliamentary Secretary and Deputy Minister in the Union Food and Agriculture ministry. In 1964, he chaired the Ering Commission, which in 1965 recommended a four-tier system of local self-government, which has greatly influenced the adoption of the Panchayati Raj system. 
Early this morning, the college fraternity also celebrated the International Yoga Day in a befitting manner. DIPRO
