ITANAGAR, Feb 1: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has deeply mourned the demise of former Chief Secretary Matin Dai who breathed his last on Friday.
In his condolence letter, Khandu said “A first generation officer from the state, who held high post that of the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, Late Dai was an illustrious personality. In his demise, Arunachal Pradesh has lost a true son of the soil, who shaped and designed the state in its formative years. Late Dai shall be remembered for years to come for his contribution to the state and its people, Khandu said.
Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd) in a condolence letter to Ms Mamang Dai, daughter of Late Matin Dai, expressed shock and grief. He said that Late Dai, a distinguished administrator, was one of the first generation administrative officers from the State. In his departure, the State has lost the man, who tended the State through its nascent Stage.
The Governor said that Late Dai was a highly distinguished public servant and a respected bureaucrat, who made important contributions towards the development of Arunachal Pradesh. His simple lifestyle, high moral values and persevering working methodology did and will continue to inspire the civil servants in their duties.
State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang D. Sona said that late Dai was an experienced, efficient and committed officer, who made numerous important contributions to the state and its people.
The Speaker conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and also prayed to the almighty God for eternal peace of his departed soul.
While condoling Dai’s demise, the All Arunachal Pradesh students Union (AAPSU) said Late Matin Dai was instrumental in shaping the students movement in the state by becoming the first general secretary of All Adi Mising Students Union in 1947 which in later times shaped the present day AAPSU.
The Galo Peoples' Front (GPF) remembered Dai as a perfect gentleman and a stalwart in his chosen field. Describing Mr. Dai as a pioneer and a pathfinder for the people of Arunachal Pradesh to the modern world and development in the early 60s, the members recalled his innumerable outstanding contributions to the State in various capacities when Arunachal had just evolved as a state.
A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect.
Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein in his condolence message, said that he had a long association of working with Late Matin Dai. He said, he was one of the pathfinder and first generation administrative Officer of the State. He further said that in his demise, the State has lost a highly notable administrator and efficient first generation bureaucrat who had contributed immensely in the development of the State in it's nascent stage.
