Koloriang, Jul 28: A District Level Sensitisation Workshop on DEDS & NLM-EDEG component was held here at PWD Badminton Indoor Hall on July 27 last for bank officials, implementing department and dairy entrepreneurs.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Kurung Kumey district Santosh Kumar Rai along with VO, Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Lead District Manager (SBI), Branch Managers of SBI, Arunachal Pradesh St. Co-op. Apex Bank Ltd (APStCABL) and entrepreneurs/progressive farmers from various parts of the district. DDM, NABARD, Lower Subansiri Mewang Lowang underlined the importance of holding the workshop with reference to ‘DEDS’ and NLM Schemes being implemented by GoI and NABARD and opined that the scheme will play a pivotal role in generating self-employment and strengthening infrastructure facilities for dairy sector in the district.
All salient features of the DEDS scheme and NLM-EDEG-credit cum subsidy linked activities viz., Poultry Venture Capital Fund (PVCF), Integrated Development of Small Ruminants & Rabbits (IDSRR) and PIG Development under Entrepreneurship Development & Employment Generation (EDEG), submission of Livestock Development of National Livestock Mission were discussed in detail by the DDM through a Power Point Presentation. Financial institutions were also requested to give priority to those projects being implemented in a cluster mode covering dairy farmers/women SHGs for helping them to get a better market price and thereby ensure regular repayment of bank loans. He also stressed on the need for all stakeholders viz., NABARD, banks and Nodal Departments to work in unison to make the scheme a success.
DC advised the participants to avail benefits under Central sector schemes being implemented through NABARD in consultation with the line department. Veterinary Officer of the line department Dr. Sonowal shared his perspective on the potential and assured all possible help from the department side and invited all interested farmers to visit the department for any help.
