Dadam, Feb 26: Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte along with MLA Anjaw cum Advisor SJETA, Dasanglu Pul attended the Hoju Kuhwa celebration at Dadam in Tirap District on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Pongte lauded the people of Dadam area for preserving their tradition and culture and also pressed for preservation of mother tongue.
Dy. Speaker APLA further informed that the Government of India has recently recognised the Nocte, Wancho, Tutsa and Tangsa under Scheduled Tribe (Modification) Amendment Act, 2021. "Though Tirap, Changlang and Longding Districts (TCL) are politically bifurcated into three districts for rapid development but still our culture and tradition including food habit are same and our love and affection must also continue as earlier," he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Patron cum MLA Chakat Aboh said that due to Covid-19, the festival wasn't celebrated in the area for last two years in a grand way but this time the youth leaders of Dadam Area covering all eight villages undertook the celebration with much fanfare.
She urged the people of Dadam to stay united and work for all round development of the area.
Guest of Honour cum MLA Anjaw, Dasanglu Pul enlightened about women empowerment and schemes under department of Social Justice and Tribal Affairs in length. She added that women association and women self help groups must play a pivotal role to motivate parents to educate the girl child.
