Itanagar, Aug 24: The District Administration, Itanagar Capital Complex will be conducting a mass social service with the theme ‘Say No to Drugs’ and ‘Itanagar Safai Abhiyan’ on August 28 in the wards of Itanagar circle and subsequently on September 4 next in the wards of Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa circle and in this regard a virtual meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom today  with all the corporators which was attended by the deputy mayor Biri Basang and EAC Datum Gadi amongst others.
Stressing that cleanliness and drug menace are two issues that need a collaborative effort of all, the DC urged the corporators to carry out intensive awareness within their respective wards from time to time. 
The DC informed that on 28th August along with the mass cleanliness drive, awareness drive on drug menace will also be carried out. He asked the corporators to identify locations which are most likely to be used as garbage dumping zone so that proper awareness could be given to the residents to refrain from throwing garbage around and to hand it over only to the garbage lifting vehicles. He also stressed on the need to educate the residents to learn to segregate the waste at source itself.
The DC also asked the corporators to regularly monitor the garbage disposal mechanism especially to keep a check on hotels and restaurants that generate huge waste.
Also stressing that cooperation of all is required to check the menace of drugs, the DC asked the corporators to inform if they come across anybody who is associated with drug peddling or anybody whose family is into drugs so that necessary measures can be taken.
The DC also briefed about various policies and programs of state government for controlling the menace of drugs. 
During the programme, banners, refreshments and T shirts will be provided by the DA to all the volunteers as submitted by corporators. DIPRO
