ITANAGAR, Oct 9: A  meeting cum awareness programme on issues like illegal earth cutting and its  disastrous effects, natural and man-made  disaster, Verification of ST/ PRC/LPC etc  and legal awareness on 188 IPC, 133 CrPC,  DM Act 2005 was held with all PRI members,  HGBs and GBs of 1 - Borum, 11- Ganga Batt & 12- Banderdewa panchayat segments on October 8-9 at CO's conference hall Banderdewa  and Ganga Village Community Hall respectively.
Dr. Dana Unna, EAC Itanagar briefed that the District Administration has banned illegal earth cutting and serious legal actions will be taken against those who violate the DM's Order.  She also urged the PRI members to be more vigilant and check illegal earth cuttings in their respective panchayats and to report to the concern administrative officer for further course of action. She also briefed them to strictly check and verify the ST / PRC / LPC forms before countersigning. 
Moromi Dodum Sonam,  DDMO Itanagar also gave awareness on various disasters and preparedness. Pamphlets related to precautionary measures were also distributed to all the participants. She asked everyone to be more responsible and help each other during any calamity and emergency. She also advised on doing voluntary works to protect themselves rather than depending on government. As winter is approaching, she highlighted on the dos and dont’s of fire  hazard and its consequences.
Tako Meniya, Advocate Cum Legal consultant, Guwahati High Court Permanent Naharlagun as resource person briefed regarding legal awareness on 188 IPC,  133 CrPC  420 IPC & Disaster Management Act 2005 and penalties to be imposed on violating the same.
A total153 participants attended the 2- day meeting cum awareness programme. DIPRO
