Roing, Nov 2: In a major success against the menace of drugs and contraband substances, as many as 28 plots of Marijuana-cultivated fields spread over approximately 10 acres at different locations of Lidor, Maktum, Last Depot, Dunabari, Tamak, 7 Kilo, 12 Kilo etc. in Bizari under Dambuk Circle of Lower Dibang Valley district were destroyed under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom.
The team consisted of In-charge ADC (Dambuk) Kabang Apum, SP James Kabang Lego, SDO, SDPO, police officials and personnel from the departments of Tax, Excise & Narcotics, Geology and Mining, Forest Guards, ALCs and women SHGs. The women SHGs of the area had earlier approached the DC seeking help to curb the growing drug menace and destruction of the marijuana crops planted secretly by the farmers all over the Bizari area. The destruction exercise was successfully carried out with active support from the SHGs who helped in locating the plots.
The destroyed Marijuana plants were burnt on the spot and the DA has sent out a strong warning to the villagers not to indulge in cultivation of such crops. DIPRO
