Daporijo, Jan 7: The Upper Subansiri District Administration, carried out surprise inspection of all pharmacies operating within Daporijo Town. The inspection was led by A Nungnu Mara, Town Magistrate, Daporijo, along with Adap Maling, In-Charge Trade & Development Officer.
During the inspection, several irregularities were detected, including stock of expired medicines, operation without valid trading licences, and failure to produce mandatory certificates as required under prevailing rules and regulations.
The District Administration has taken serious note of these violations. Necessary legal action will be initiated against the defaulters as per the provisions of law to safeguard public health and consumer safety. All seized expired medicines were immediately disposed of through the deep pit burial method following due procedure in the presence of the inspection team.
The District Administration, Daporijo, had appealed to all pharmacy owners and traders to strictly adhere to licensing norms and regulatory requirements and to ensure that only safe and valid medicines are sold to the public. Such inspections will continue in the interest of public health and welfare, the DA said.
