Khonsa, Aug 10: The Tirap District Administration in collaboration with the Health Department conducted special health awareness camp a  Pongkong village, 32 kms away from district headquarters Khonsa in the wake of the recent outbreak of diarrhoea.
While interacting with the people, EAC Lazu, DK Thungdok sought cooperation from the villagers to immediately inform medical staffers stationed at the village.
DMO Dr. N Lowang, distributed liquid and powder ORS to the villagers and gave awareness on health and hygiene. She appealed all PRIs, Chief, GB and religious leaders of Pongkong village to motivate the residents to avail immediate medical treatment instead of performing local religious rituals. The DMO further assured for stationing of one permanent ANM in sub centre Pongkong.
DD(WCD) H. Bangsia insisted to do away with old practices of curing diseases instead inform medical staff immediately. She also encouraged the women folk to participate more in such awareness programmes. EE( PHE & WS) Er  Bamang Tasung along with his staff demonstrated water testing kit and its uses and handed over one testing kit to the village authorities. He suggested the villagers to use boiled water for drinking purpose.

The special team visited KGBV, Barap girls residential school where some diarrhoea cases were diagnosed and gave necessary medicines to school authorities.
