ROING, Jul 20: A meeting to understand and review the status of COVID 19 management in Lower Dibang Valley district and discuss the rising positivity rate was conducted by the Deputy Commissioner KN Damo in the presence of SP J. K. Lego, DMO Dr. R. Tatan, heads of departments and Administrative Officers, today at Roing.
The DC expressed concern over the rising positivity rate and said that it can be brought under control only when people follow COVID appropriate behaviour, follow containment measures put in place and get vaccinated. He informed about the positivity rate being above 10% in the last 3 to 4 days and cautioned that if such a state continues for a week or more, the DA will have no option but to recommend district wide lockdown measures, as per the rules laid down by the Centre and the state.
The DC put the onus of keeping the staff of various government departments and their families safe, in the hands of the  heads of departments and directed all to ensure that all eligible people are vaccinated at the earliest. He also called for a head count of all vaccinated people and to trace out the left out people and get them vaccinated.
Damo also instructed the health department to provide telephonic counselling to COVID 19 positive patients.  He cautioned people travelling to the neighbouring districts with higher COVID 19 positivity rates to be careful and maintain SOP.
SP J. K. Lego spoke on the problems faced by the police in enforcing COVID appropriate behaviour and curfew in the villages and during the evening time and called for community involvement in patrolling to enforce the SOP.
DMO Dr. R. Tatan emphasised on testing, tracking, vaccination and following SOP and asked one and all to encourage people to go for testing. He said that it was imperative to remove the stigma of becoming COVID positive, which would encourage people to come forward for testing and tracking by the department would result in catching the cases faster and in turn lead to a control on the situation.DIPRO
