Itanagar, Jul 21: The Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Region Komkar Dulom convened a review meeting with the Price Monitoring  Committee which has been formed to monitor and regulate prices of various essential commodities to control price escalation in the Capital Region in view of the extension of lockdown.
The Committee informed that they had carried out intensive checking drive  in the last two days  in all the sectors and also the main markets which are permitted to open.
 During the inspection, the team had also announced the notified rates in the markets while urging the shopkeepers and vendors to abide by the rate fixed by the District Administration. The team of EAC Itanagar Neelam Teji had also seized Mithun Meat from a vendor yesterday who was selling it  @Rs 700 per kg, far above the price set by the DA. Today the same team has also arrested a vendor from Chandan Nagar who was caught selling items at high rate and was running his shop without valid documents. The DC has time and again requested the business communities to abide by the rules and regulations otherwise such strict actions would be initiated against them.
During the meeting, the DC also directed the Member Secretary APMC Dolang Akom to work out modalities so that such practices could be completely avoided in future. He also directed him to explore possibility of setting up Centralized Mandi for whole sellers which will help the DA to keep a tab on price fluctuation of various essential commodities besides checking any malpractices by the traders.
The DC further informed that the drive would continue in the permitted days that markets are allowed to open.
 Among others, the meeting was attended by EAC Itanagar Neelam Teji, EAC Naharlagun Likha Radh, CO Moyir Kato, APMC MS Dolang Akom and officers from Department of Legal Metrology. DIPRO
