AALO, May 3: Reports of damages caused by the cyclone that swept West Siang on May 1 evening continued to flow in from various parts of the district on Monday.
The North East Frontier Technical University located at Sipu Puyi has been damaged heavily including its SPT and Katcha structure on the roof of the RCC building. The hailstorm resulted in deposition of huge quantities of mud and debris in front of the university leading to water logging in the compound. The cyclone which took its path over the low lying areas destroyed many resting huts and granaries on the wet cultivation fields of Darka village also. The villagers and farmers of the area have urged the District Administration to depute officers to assess damages and make an estimate for submission to the state government for consideration.
Meanwhile, the district’s Power department continues to face a tough time in restoring the damaged feeder lines in many places. DIPRO
