ITANAGAR, Jan 27: On Republic Day celebration this year, cycling aficionados from various walks of life in Arunachal Pradesh took part in the Bicycle Parade -2020, which is India’s attempt to break Guinness World Record currently being held by Thailand.
In West Kameng, 15 cyclists led by PHED executive engineer Niapung Konia covered 45 km from Bomdila general ground to Dirang after being flagged off by deputy commissioner Dr. Sonal Swaroop.
In East Kameng, ten riders led by DT Group chairman Chandra Sono Yangfo rode 50-km return trip from Seppa general ground to Attangarang village after being flagged by district sports officer Khoya Yame.
In Shi Yomi, eight riders led by PHED executive engineer Marter Riba fulfilled the minimum criteria of 5 km while the cyclists in Itanagar covered 8 km. The official from the Guinness World Record will announce the result soon. Thailand had set the record in 2015 with 1,36,411 cyclists.
